About Us

McCabrey Cycles was first opened as a motorbike and pushbike sales and repair service by Thomas James McCabrey in 1948. In 1970 his son, Ronnie joined his father to extend the shop and grow the business. During the next 20 years the shop grew from strength to strength. On the passing of Thomas McCabrey, Ronnie focused solely on the sale and repair of bicycles and bicycle accessories.

While the face of the shop has changed, our focus remains the same. That is ‘on the provision of high quality products at a best value price’. We strive on making sure our customers have the best possible advice so that they get the most from their bicycles.

Since 1970 we have kept abreast of the latest cycle engineering. We have used this learning to select the best manufactured products in the world. We sell all well known brands, including Rooster, Goldrush, Eurotrek, BH, Claud Buttler, Landrover, Giant and Diamondback. The brand names in which we take greatest pride are Felt, Trek and Raleigh.

As well as bicycles we stock all bicycle parts and cycle accessories. All accessories are available for home delivery. If you are not sure what you are looking for, please contact us and we will get back to you with recommended options and costs.

As a hobby we collect old cycling memorabellia. We have a large collection of old antique cycle lamps, saddle bags, novelty pieces and collectors bicycles. Bicycles include a Victorian tricycle, the Raleigh Centenary 14 carrot gold plated road bike, the old Raleigh Grifter, Chopper and Vector. Throughout our 62 years in business we have collected many cycling artefacts dating back to the late 1940’s.

Since McCabrey cycles opened we have invested considerably in the development of local cycling. We have taken great pride in being an independent retailer sponsoring local cycling events. We have built our reputation by giving local talent the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Annually, we donate bicycles as raffle prizes for local causes. More recently we have been invited to local schools using bicycles and accessories to communicate the value of money to their pupils.

In-store we provide a bicycle repair service. We also offer a bespoke service to our customers where we build or adjust bicycles with components to meet their exact specification.

Terms and conditions apply to our local delivery service, you can relax knowing that when your bicycle arrives it will be professionally assembled with a full warranty ready for you to enjoy immediately!

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our business. We hope we have given you the confidence that we’ll provide you with the same care, security and respect that our in-store customers receive.
